Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome says the Government will not allow politicians to interfere or stall the Affordable Housing Program because of their personal differences.
CS Wahome said she has personally reached out to elected leaders from Kiambu as well as the County leadership to mediate on ongoing disputes which have put the County at risk of missing out on development.
She spoke in Ruiru County during a progress assesment tour of Kings Boma Affordable Housing project, a partnership between the National Government and Kings Developers.
The CS lauded the developer for the quick progress without compromising on quality of the houses.
She said the Affordable Housing Porgram will dignify the livelihood of Kenyans and will come with other social amnenities such as schools, play areas, water and sewerage upgrade among others.
The CS noted that the program also seeks to provide employment to the youth, women in construction as well as the Jua Kali artisans by rignfencing some of the products used in the project for them
She reiterated the Governments commitment to unveil the 200 housing unit per constituency priogram and called on elected leaders to support the agenda saying Kenyans have a right to decent yet affordable housing.
The Ruiru Kings Boma was launhced in January by the President and is expceted to be ready for completion next year.
The Ksh 2.8b project will provide 1,050 housing units ranging from studio apartments, two bedroon and three bedroom units.
