From the lush landscapes of Nairobi to the bustling streets of Barcelona, Yaron Trachtenberg Ifrah, a 16-year-old entrepreneur and philanthropist, is redefining what it means to give back. His story is a testament to the power of opportunity and the resilience of the human spirit.
“I grew up in Nairobi, and those seven years were the foundation of everything I am today,” Yaron begins, reflecting on his early years in Kenya. “Moving to Barcelona opened a world of opportunities that I never knew existed. It was here that I learned invaluable skills in technology and business, and I realized I had to use these to make a difference back home.”

His journey back to Kenya was not just a trip down memory lane but a mission to ignite change. Yaron’s understanding of the disparities in opportunities between his two homes became the driving force behind his philanthropic vision.
Initiating Change: Local Engagement and Empowerment
Yaron’s first foray into making a difference involved partnering with local Nairobi businesses and orphanages, including St. Paul’s Children Care Center and Angel Care Center for Abandoned Children. In 2021, he organized a memorable day for the orphaned children, partnering with local cinemas, bowling alleys, and restaurants to give these children their first day out since the pandemic struck.
In 2021, Yaron established a fundraising booth at Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Theinitiative was a resounding success resulting in the construction of a borehole and the donation of a water tower, solar panels, and a water purification machine to St. Paul’s Children’s Care Center. The total value of all donated items and projects undertaken at the center amounted to Ksh5.3 million.
Current Ventures: The Kenya Youth Marathon
Yaron’s latest project is the Kenya Youth Marathon, scheduled for March/April. This event, organized in collaboration with the Nairobi city council and various sponsors, is not just a fundraiser but a beacon of hope for underprivileged children. The upcoming Kenya Youth Foundation website is set to further his cause, offering a platform for wider engagement and support.
Vision and Goal: Empowering Through Opportunity
Yaron’s mission is clear: to equip Kenya’s youth with the opportunities and resources necessary to chase their dreams. “Our goal is to nurture the future of Kenya, one child at a time,” Yaron asserts, his determination palpable.

Future Aspirations: Technological Expansion for Greater Impact
Looking ahead, Yaron and his team are exploring innovative approaches, including developing an app to host virtual fundraising events. This move aims to broaden their reach, making it easier to support more children across Kenya.
