NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 6 – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday took “a nostalgic journey to Mt.Kenya” where he prayed for his boss – President William Ruto to deliver on his economic plan for Kenya.

Gachagua who is part of a delegation of senior government officials attending the three-day inaugural retreat of the Cabinet at Fairmount Mount Kenya Safari made the journey at 4.00 a.m.

“Facing Mount Kenya, I prayed to ‘Mwene Nyaga’ to give good health and wisdom to our Great Leader President as he embarks on the economic transformation of our nation and the restoration of the dignity of the Kenyan people. Mlima is calm, steady, and stoic na iko sawa,” he tweeted.

Gachagua also revealed he “took time to thank God for his mercy and kindness to the people of Kenya and for giving us the freedom we are now enjoying”.

In the one-hour streak, Gachagua also crossed River Rikkia which reminded him of Kenya’s great struggle for freedom.

Gachagua has in recent days been positioning himself as the kingpin of the larger Mt. Kenya region.

He, however, continues to stir up controversy with his recent one being his outburst on the management of Nairobi County affairs where he told the Governor not to interfere with “Kikuyu businesses”.

His remarks were as a result of Sakaja’s move to move to relocate matatus from the CBD to the new Green Park terminus

“We do not want his high speed. He must slow down,” he said adding, “We made you governor. I personally lobbied the Kikuyu people in Nairobi to elect him.”

President Ruto who is chairing the retreat will close it on Sunday, January 8, 2022.
