NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 29 – The Nairobi County Government has signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Standard Chartered Bank Limited on environment, education and entrepreneurship initiatives.
County Secretary Patrick Analo explained activities to be undertaken include tree planting, medical camps, employability- targeting University and County TVET colleges and the Standard Chartered marathon that are aimed at promoting community investment and support for the vulnerable people in the community.
The partnership also seeks to involve sharing of information and best practices with a focus on awareness creation and community engagement.
“The County is carrying out a number of other intiatives like Dishi na County and the Elnino rains preparedness. You are free to also reach out to the County for partnerships in any of these area,” the County Secretary said.
As part of collaboration, the Standard Chartered Bank plans to establish a tree nursery at the City Park in supporting the county achieve 1million tree initiative per year.
The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon Chairman Peter Gitau thanked the County for supporting the bank for the last 20 years through waivers, creating a good working relationship between the two organizations.

Gitau also presented a tax waiver request for the upcoming Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon to the County Secretary.
The two organizations also discussed on areas of cooperation for the StanChart Nairobi Marathon.
The two will work together in planning of the marathon, facilitate dissemination of information regarding the marathon to the general public, public notices and signages, marathon facilities and security.
The signing of the MOU was witnessed by County Executive Committee Member for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service Anastasia Nyalita and Ag. County Attorney Ms. Christine Ireri.
