KISII, Kenya, Jan 9 — A police officer assigned to guard a bank in Kisii is nursing gunshot wounds after his colleague accidentally discharged his firearm causing inflicting injuries on his left leg.
The officer undergoing treatment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital was guarding a Cooperative Bank branch in Kisii town.
Kisii OCPD Amos Ambasa said the shooting incident happened when the officers from Sameta came to collect money from the branch as they waited outside the bank with their colleagues from Kisii Central Police Station.
A round of ammunition is said to have been discharged from an AK47 and hit the officer from Sameta. The bullet reportedly hit a wall and bounced back injuring a security guard working for a private firm on the palm.

“Two ammunition were also discharged when the officer threw his AK-47 down,” the OCPD said.
The private security guard was discharged after treatment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
