NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 21 — The Ministry of Tourism has fallen sixteen places in a Cabinet Office performance contract assessment marking the steepest decline in government.
The ministry which was among the top five dockets during the 2021/2022 financial year having been scored at 3.15 at the time registered a deviation of -0.74.
The assessment also ranked the ministries of Education, Labour, and Interior among dockets whose performance declined during the 2022/2023 Financial Year.
Education was ranked at position fifteen with a score of 3.57 down from position ten in the preceding financial year.
Labour dropped from the eighth position to fourteen with a score of 3.41 while Interior declined from position seven to eight with a score of 3.3.

The Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development also recorded a drop from position 18 to 22.
The report ranked the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation (Maji House), the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs among the most improved ministries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the State Law Office (Sheria House) emerged as top achievers.
The MFA was ranked at the top with a score of 3.0137, followed by the MoD with a score of 3.0200 in a report released by the Cabinet Office on Tuesday during the 2nd National Executive Retreat chaired by President William Ruto.
Sheria House scored 3.0700.
Commenting on the review, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria said the report was a product of a Government Performance and Delivery Roadshow compiled by the steering committee he chaired.
